The update means you can ask Gemini to pull data, answer questions, and update records in these apps without leaving Gmail, Docs, Sheets, or Workspace itself.
Before this, if you needed to check a customer's Salesforce record while drafting an email, you had to open a new tab, log in to Salesforce, find the record, then come back to Gmail. Now you can ask Gemini to fetch it, and it appears inline in your email draft. Same for QuickBooks invoices, Asana task updates, or HubSpot contact notes.
The integrations work through Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that lets Gemini read and write data in external apps. When you ask Gemini a question about your Salesforce pipeline or a Monday board, it talks directly to that app's data, not a cached or outdated version.
The biggest payoff is not flashy. It is operational. Every time a team member switches between apps to update or check data, they risk delay and error. A sales rep who asks Gemini for the last three interactions with a prospect gets an accurate answer in seconds, not minutes of clicking through Salesforce. An accountant who needs to verify an expense total can ask Gemini to pull it from QuickBooks without leaving their email thread.
If you use Workspace and one or more of these seven apps, you can enable the integration through Gemini's settings in Workspace. You will need to authorize each app (provide login credentials or API access) once. After that, Gemini can ask for and update data in those tools whenever you prompt it.
