Montrose runs on independent businesses: restaurants, galleries, salons, studios and boutiques along Westheimer and Montrose Boulevard. The Montrose Management District, which assesses commercial property along those corridors, resumed activity in 2024 after several years dormant, and not every business owner there welcomed it.
That independence is the neighbourhood's whole appeal and its commercial weakness at the same time. There is no corporate marketing budget behind any of it, so being findable comes down to whoever bothered to do the basics properly.
